As a former world-class athlete, three-time Olympic gold-medal winner Maria Höfl-Riesch knows only too well how important good health is. Before she attained her grandest Olympian victories, she nearly had to terminate her promising sports career as a result of a grave injury incurred during a fall on the ski slopes. “For professional athletes, the body is one’s most important tool. But the same holds true for every other human being as well: good health is the pre-requisite of a fulfilling and active life.” For that reason, Maria is delighted to lend her support to DAK-Gesundheit, the medical umbrella organisation overseeing national health issues, serving as their Ambassadress of Good Health. The focus of her activity for the national medical insurance agency will be on ‘the healthy human spine’.
